Alcyon Center - sample text Holding Steady in Midstream: Retreat A: Friday - Sunday In these rocky times, how do we hold on, and hold ourselves accountable to our deeper self and purpose? In these three day "working retreats" we will explore the spiritual discipline of "accountability" through several lenses, including a daily inventory or examination of conscience and living by a personal rule. Each retreat will offer solitude and silence, conversation, individual and group work, creative activity, worship and play. Come to one, or both! Open to all, lay and clergy, who seek to deepen their inner life of prayer and response-ability. Registration deadline: TBA Presenters: Joan Jordan Grant and Kathryn Booth are both ordained pastors in the United Church of Christ. They are co-founders of The Alcyon Center, a retreat and spiritual life training center on Mount Desert Island, Maine, where they seek to weave together old and new forms of spiritual hospitality to speak to the deep spiritual hunger of our times. They are also founding members of the Northeast Guild for Spiritual Formation, a consortium of contemplatively oriented pastors, counselors, spiritual directors and seekers committed to community and accountability in their spiritual lives and work.
